We’re not just hosting the the Big Game. We’re redefining it.
Being Net Positive is about using the Big Game as a platform to do good – socially, environmentally and economically – for the benefit of the entire Bay Area.
It was only natural. Given the Bay Area’s leadership in innovation, sustainability, and technology, the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee set out to do something that’s never been done before: to make this the most healthy, sustainable, shared, and socially responsible game ever.
Together with The 50 Fund – a signature philanthropic initiative – the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee has made a commitment to deliver a ‘net positive’ event based on these four main goals:
- To deliver a low-emissions event (power/ transportation)
- To responsibly use materials and resources (food/water/waste)
- To leave a positive and lasting legacy for the region
- And, last but not least, to inspire fans to join us in making all of this a reality
Thus was born the ‘Play Your Part’ campaign. We want to inspire Bay Area sports fans and residents to do the right thing and join in embracing sustainable practices in our daily lives. We’ll start by showcasing innovative solutions that lessen our collective impact (have you seen the new LEED gold-certified Levi’s Stadium?) and by inspiring each of us to our share stories of the simple, everyday things we can do each day to make a difference.
In other words, we’re asking everyone involved to leave this place better than we found it and pay it forward for the next generation of fans.
Can there be a bigger goal? We urge you to play your part.
